Laura Harger was born and raised in Carrollton, Texas.   After graduating from The Colony High School, she attended the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology-Biomedical Science while being actively involved in multiple campus organizations.  While in school, she spent her summers as both a volunteer and staff member at Camp John Marc, a camp in Meridian, Texas for children with chronic illnesses and severe disabilities.  After graduation, she worked at the J.D. McCarty Center,  a center for children with developmental disabilities in Norman, Oklahoma. 

In 2008, she moved to Gainesville, Florida in order to earn her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida.  This is the first and only university in the nation to have a School of Physician Assistant Studies within the College of Medicine.  Throughout her training, she was given the opportunity to work with high-quality doctors in top-rated facilities throughout Florida.  She worked at the health department, a homeless shelter, the Veterans’ Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital, a level one trauma center, to name a few.  She is currently a member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.

She was married in 2008, and has relocated back home to Frisco where  she currently lives with her husband and their two dogs.  She is excited to be a part of Internal Medicine Associates of Plano.
