Dr. Tirandaz is the founder of Internal Medicine Associates of Plano. He is one of the past Chairman's for the Department of Internal Medicine at the THR: Presbyterian Hospital of Plano [http://www.presbyplano.org/], and has served on the hospital’s medical board.
Raised in Galveston, Texas, he attended Ball High School. His family moved to the United States in 1978, from his homeland of Iran in order to flee religious persecution at the time of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
He did his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin [http://www.utexas.edu/]. Subsequently, he attended the University of Houston at Clear Lake where he received a Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences. He then returned to Galveston to attend the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston [http://www.utmb.edu/] for medical school and graduated in 1993. While at UTMB he served as freshman class president. He went on to do his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has been in private practice in Plano since 1996.
According to the American College of Physicians, “fellowship is an honor achieved by those recognized by their peers for personal integrity, superior competence in internal medicine, professional accomplishment, and demonstrated scholarship.” He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Tirandaz has also fulfilled all the requirements for Board re-certification in Internal Medicine which is a requirement of the American Board of Internal Medicine every ten years.
He was voted by his colleagues in 2010 as one of the best physicians in Collin County by D Magazine. He has also been voted by his patient’s the “Patient Choice Award” in 2010 and for the last few years.
Dr. Tirandaz in past years has been elected by other internists to the Board of Directors for the American College of Physicians for the State of Texas and the Society of Internal Medicine – Texas Academy of Internal Medicine [http://www.taim.org] and served in that capacity until the end of 2005. He has also been previously appointed to the Texas Career Medicare Advisory Committee as the Internal Medicine representative.
He has been elected to the House of Delegates for the Texas Medical Association [http://www.texmed.org/] as a chosen delegate from the Dallas County Medical Society. The House of Delegates is the legislative and policymaking body for the Texas Medical Association. Furthermore, Dr. Tirandaz has previously served on the Council on Communication. He is an active member of the Dallas County Medical Society and has served on numerous committees such as the Mediations Committee and the Media Committee.
Previously he has also served as the Vice Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and on the Clinical Risk Review Committee at the Presbyterian Hospital of Plano [http://www.presbyplano.org/]. He has also previously served as the Chair of the Internal Medicine Peer Review Committee at the Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. He has hospital privileges at the Medical Center of Plano and the Methodist Richardson Medical Center. Dr. Tirandaz is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Medical Officer for Tiba Medical, Inc. [http://www.tibamedical.com/] , a privately held medical device company with operations out of Portland, Oregon. Furthermore he has also been on the national speaker’s bureau for numerous pharmaceutical companies in the past.
Dr. Tirandaz is also very involved in numerous community activities. He was a co-founder and previous medical director of the Free Clinic of Greater Dallas and the Cause Foundation, a registered non-profit organization. He is an active member of the Baha’i Faith in Plano [http://www.bahai.org/] and serves on the governing body for the Baha’i Faith in Plano, which has a membership of over 400 individuals. He has also done international volunteer work at a hospital in mainland China.
Dr. Tirandaz lives in Plano with his wife and their three children.
