Dr. Ami Shah practices Family Medicine and enjoys the essence of providing continuing, comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family. She is board certified in Family Medicine and recertified in 2008. She is also board certified in Geriatric Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine.
She has been practicing medicine since 2002.
She grew up in India and graduated from the Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. Her internship in rural India gave her a true insight and an opportunity to understand a wide array of acute infectious as well as chronic medical conditions.
She moved to the US after she got married, to join her husband and pursue medicine further. She completed her family medicine residency at the St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan followed by a Geriatric fellowship at the Sparrow Health System/Michigan state University in Lansing, Michigan. During her residency she pursued a 3 year research project involving preventive health care for women, which she continues to be a great proponent of. Her training in Geriatrics has given her a further insight into the complex conditions associated with aging.
She practiced medicine in Michigan for seven years and moved to Texas in January 2010 because of her husband’s new job opportunity.
She enjoys painting, cooking and spending time with her children. She lives in Plano with her husband and two boys.
